The One Call Transfer Center provides an excellent resource for gathering information and acting as liaison for complex intra-facility transfers. They’ve enabled us to improve the process of communication with sending facilities and have been a major factor in our success as the tertiary referral center within our region. Many of our patients are complex cases and the Transfer Center has been a key factor in our being able to successfully coordinate with sending physicians as well as assisting with transportation to and placement within our facility.

In the first weekend after initiating DirectCall, we had two significant encounters. First, a trauma patient with multiple fractures was rapidly transferred from a rural new referral hospital to the trauma center at GMC. Then, the second encounter allowed a quick conference communication between referring ER MD, trauma and specialty surgeons to accomplish the best destination for immediate treatment of a complex acetabular fracture. The effectiveness of DirectCall for inter-facility transfers is being rapidly realized by the specialty physicians involved.
